Retibel
«Retibel» studies, 2025
Aluminum, Resin, Multiplex, Wood
Retibel is a series of works that takes the historical retable as a reference point and translates it into a digital altar. The works consist of flat panels with high-gloss black surfaces reminiscent of inactive displays. They remain empty and thus refer to a latent pictoriality that is not realized.
While in religious tradition the retable was only opened on certain occasions, thus regulating access to images and narratives, the Retibel appears as its contemporary counterpart: an altar without revelation, whose sacred gesture lives on in its reference to the aesthetics of mobile devices. It marks a space of expectation in which screens themselves have become objects of worship and reflection.
